The Big Ask:

The Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus had a new member of the group throwing their annual fundraising event known as “Trailblazers”. She wanted a refresh that could engage a younger, hipper woman to the caucus event, while maintaining enough of the established style guides to appease the older members of the caucus that don’t like change. She also wanted social media and digital work to reach out to donors and attendees.

For this project I was asked to design:

  • Facebook Event Banner
  • Facebook Targeted Ads
  • Program Guide with Ads
  • Menu of Food and Drinks offered
  • Emailed Invite Blast
  • Mailed Invite Postcard
  • Event Signage/ Table Tents

The Solution:

My first step was to establish an aesthetic. The original branding colors were mustard yellow, grape purple, a cool grey and black. The logo was a impression of a torch and the Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus, spelled out- with the women’s sign made out of the O. I really wanted to simplify that  for this event.

The biggest change they wanted to make was the digital aspect. Based on the remnants of last year I knew that I could stray pretty far from the established brand standards. I also realized that there was really no digital presence. When I searched Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus Trailblazers and an old website from 2014 came up.
